CHRONO SYMPHONIC ---------------- General info about the project: ------------------------------- Chrono Symphonic is a 25 track, two disk album with remixes of music from the Chrono Trigger videogame for the Super Nintendo. Dedicated to the 10th Anniversary of that game, it's freely available as an official OverClocked Remix site project. You can find it at: http://www.ocremix.org http://chrono.ocremix.org You can also find some background information at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrono_Symphonic Distribution: ------------- Chrono Symphonic is distributed in two formats: .mp3 and .flac. FLAC is a lossless audio format similar to mp3 except there is no loss of quality during the compression. As a result, the file sizes are larger than mp3s (around 25-30 mb) but smaller than the average wav file. For more information on FLAC files, check out the official website at http://flac.sourceforge.net. If you want to burn the .flac files to a CD, you can do so by extracting them first with any tool you like, then arranging them as listed in the tracklist (below) in your preferred CD creation tool. The tracks are already properly cut and arranged, pause between tracks aren't needed and should be set to zero. Information about the sound: ---------------------------- Chrono Symphonic was aimed to sound like a movie score. Therefore the whole engineering was laid out for that, too. Even though the orchestra arrangements are almost completely digital, careful sound engineering made it possible to let it sound as if it was recorded in a real environment. The convolution reverb that was used to "simulate" this environment was the "Promenadikeskus Concert Hall" in Pori, Finland. You can find more about the concert hall and convolution at: http://www.acoustics.hut.fi/projects/poririrs/ The tracks are engineered in the K-System Standard. The K-System, in short, is a standard, set by audio engineer Bob Katz (more information at http://www.digido.com), that indicates certain loudness levels. Those loudness levels are guidelines for other audio engineers to get a hot, but still dynamic mix and is a war-declaration to the volume race on the modern media. Both CDs can be listened to the same volume as you'd watch movie DVDs on your preferred amp. No volume adjustments needed; you can listen to the full dynamics of the music.
